Richard Quinnette
Trombone
Richard Quinnette has been a member of the Salem County
Brass Society since 2004. He currently
lives in Woodbury Heights and is married to wife Jeanne (native of Pitman) with
one son, Eric. A native of Woodstown
and Salem County, Richard began playing trombone in 4th grade under the
instruction of Larry Marraccini, long-time Woodstown High School Band
Director. He played trombone all
throughout junior high and high school, earning first chair twice and graduating
in 1976.
He also played in college under the direction Dr. Clyde
Shive at Drexel University for five years until graduating in 1981 with a B.S.
Degree in Chemical Engineering. He
began work with Gulf Oil in Philadelphia, but was transferred first to Pittsburgh,
Pa. and then to Odessa, Texas, with Jeanne until they moved back to the Phila.
area with their son Eric. Richard
played trombone in the Odessa Community Band under the direction of Dr. Bernard
Rose for five years before moving back to the area in 1991.
Richard played trombone off and on in the Woodbury Heights
Presbyterian Church at Christmas, Easter, for the Follies, and in the Summer
for 13 years before joining the Salem County Brass Society in 2004.
He has also raised a son, completely renovated a house,
became involved in Boy Scouts in the Troop Committee, obtained an MBA in
Financial Management from Drexel University in 1999, has participated as a
Graduate Assistant for Sunoco’s Dale Carnegie Class and ran unsuccessfully for
Borough Council in Woodbury Heights twice (2004 and 2005). It was during the first Borough Council run
that he had offers to play for the Pitman Hobo Band, the Salem County Brass
Society and Bonsal Blues Concert Band and chose the Brass Society. He also plays occasionally in the
Haddonfield Community (pickup) Band.
