Nathan Gable
Trombone
Nate began playing the trombone in 7th
grade. His father
insisted he play trombone instead of drums, because he realized his son
loved to watch the trombones marching in the front of the bands as they
went by in the local parades. Originally from Schuylkill County
PA, his family moved to
Philadelphia when he was in the middle of
7th grade. He continued to play trombone in the Philadelphia School
System, qualifying for the All-Philadelphia Junior High School Orchestra
in 9th grade and the Senior High Orchestra in 11th grade.
After a stint in the US Navy and some work
experience, he enrolled in Temple University as a music education
major with trombone concentration. After one semester of voice lessons, discovering that he was a
tenor (they're scarce as hen's teeth), he changed his concentration to
voice.
He never forgot his first love, however,
and after retiring from a 25-year career as a concert singer he has
returned to that love with the Salem County Brass Society and the Original
Hobo Band.
He lives in Sewell (Mantua Twp.) with his
wife Diana and daughters Mirella and Elena. Mirella is a French horn major at
Eastman School of Music, and Elena played French horn all through high
school, finishing her senior year as principal in the Clearview High
School Wind Ensemble. She now
attends Gloucester County College under the New Jersey Stars Scholarship
program.
Currently employed as Webmaster for
Washington Township School District, Nate maintains his
own Comcast personal Web site where a more complete bio is
displayed.
