Dave Heintzelman began playing the trumpet in 5th grade in the Hazleton, Pa. school system.  He played trumpet through 11th grade and then switched to baritone horn in 12th grade.  While in Hazleton, he also played with the Liberty Band.  A band of historical significance (the band played at the end of the Civil War when Lee surrendered to Grant).  Dave played trumpet in the Lehigh University band and then switched again to baritone for two years.

Dave was one of the original members of the Brass Society.  In addition to playing with the Brass, he also plays in the Newark Community Band.

Dave's most memorable musical experience was getting a standing ovation from over 30 thousand people when playing with the Lehigh band at the Harvard bowl.
