Charles Musser
Director Emeritus

Charles is a resident of Carneys Point, New Jersey, and has been teaching music in Pennsville, New Jersey since 1969.  He received a BA degree in Music Education in 1965 and a MA in music from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1975, with an applied music emphasis in conducting.  He is also a certified music supervisor and school administrator, completing that certification in 1979.

Mr. Musser is one of the original members of the Brass Society, and has been it's president since it's inception.  Charles moved from playing trumpet to French horn and then to the position of music director of the Brass Society in 1988.

Since 1980, Mr. Musser has been the music director of Union Presbyterian Church, directing several choirs.  Mr. Musser is also the founder and music director of the Salem Community College Oak Singers, a college community choral with over fifty members.  He has performed as a vocal soloist and has participated in many regional music performances, including the direction of several major works.  He has been active in the past in local community theater.

Prior to coming to this area, Mr. Musser was an officer in the U. S. Navy where, while in flight training in Pensacola Florida, was assistant director of the Naval Air Training Command Choir.  In his spare time he can be found pursuing his hobby of model railroading.  He was formally a certified Red Cross Swim Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor, teaching at the YMCA of Salem County during the winter months.  Until 1995, summers were spent as director of the county YMCA day camp, "Camp Crocket".

Mr. Musser has been married since 1964 to the former Patricia I. Murphy of Vineland, a former music teacher and current Financial Aid Administrator at Salem Community College.  They have two married children, Jennifer born 1967, and Douglas born in 1972.  They are also the grand parents of Grace Helen Grill born in 1995, Steven Douglas Musser born in 1999, Natalie Irene Grill born in February, 2000, and Mauricette Elizabeth Musser born in September, 2001.
